Fethiye
The stunning lagoon of Ölüdeniz near Fethiye is one of the best in Turkey. Literally translated as ‘dead sea’, the stunning lagoon is a protected area, ensuring that its natural beauty is preserved for you to enjoy with lots of bargain properties available with rent guarantees.

OLUDENIZ (FETHIYE)
Oludeniz, situated on Turkey’s south-west coast, with it’s pristine white beaches and amazingly blue waters is one of the finest beaches in the world. Known as ‘the Turquoise Coast’, it is the ideal holiday destination.
Be it diving, rafting, paragliding or simply walking and sunbathing lazily o the beach, Oludeniz has it all!
Oludeniz, situated in the heart of Lycia, is the ideal centre for visiting its many antique cities. Xanthos, Letoon, Pinara, Tlos, Sdyma, Myra, and many others.
There are arranged excursions to al of these sites. The many natural wonders in the area attract as much interest as the historical sites.
Butterfly Valley, is just 5 km from Oludeniz. Kayakoy – the Ghost Town – an old deserted Greek village is only 10 km from the beach, the Saklikent Gorge 50 km away and the 33 km long Patara sands and Akdag summer pastures are among the many sites of natural beauty within striking distance.

Transport
Those who come by road from the west can drive through Aydin,Mugla and Koycegiz.There are buses running from almost all of Turkey’s major cities to Fethiye.If you are flying in, you will land at Dalaman Airport. There are Domestic and International flights in both summer and winter to Dalaman.The distance between Dalaman and Fethiye is 55 kilometers. There are regular buses that operate on this route.
Internal Transport
These are shared minibuses called “Dolmus” running nonstop between Fethiye and other places of interest in summer season and also in winter but more infrequent.Between Fethiye and Calis Beach there are minibuses and small boats running out to Gemile and other islands.
Currency
To be effective from 01/01/2005, Turkey’s monetary unit is renamed as new Turkish Lira (YTL) the sub-unit of New Turkish Lira is “New Kurush” (TKr)New Turkish Lira Bank Notes 1,5,10,20,50 and 100 YTL, Coins 1,5,10,25,50 New Kurus and 1New Lira.For current international exchange rates ,see the daily newspapers or ask banks and change offices.
What to Eat?
It is possible to find excellent seafood in places around Fethiye’s cenre Municipality Park, the restaurants around the quay and the restaurants on newly constructed seaside road on the way to Calis Beach. Around the area of the Paspatur Bazaar area you will find restaurants serving home style foods, kebabs and Turkish pizzas (pide).Those who want to eat fish should go to the fish restaurants along the sea side. By contrast,Gocek can offer a rich variety of seafood. At the restaurants around the coves of Gocek can offer a rich variety of seafood.
Entertainment
The Fethiye nights are as crazy as the Bodrum or Marmaris ones. Those who seek music and entertainment choose to stay in the centre of Fethiye,Hisaronu or Oludeniz. There are too many places that play music in Gocek as well.
The Marketplace
The Fethiye bazaar is very colorful. On Tuesdays you have the weekly local market set up. You don’t get the general disorder you get in other bazaars. The sections for fruit and vegetable stalls, clothing and handcraft are all organized.
Don’t worry if you get hungry, there are many options, from Kebabs to home cooked food. The other thing you can do at the bazaar area is to choose and buy your own fish from the fisherman yourselves and made them cooked in the small tiny restaurants while listening to locals play and sing around.
Accommodation
There are many small or large hotels,pensions and holiday villages in the cenre of Fethiye, at the nearby coves, Calis Beach,Ovacik, Hisaronu,Oludeniz,Kayakoy and Gocek.

The historical Turkish bath in the center of Fethiye attracts people of all nationalities. Also the newly built Kaya Hamami near the main bus station and the hamams of the hotels in and around Fethiye are now on service for all the people of different nations.
